Golden Tag, subject to regulatory approval, has acquired 48 claims (2,479 acres) on trend from the Fortune Minerals Ltd. NICO cobalt-bismuth project, about 100 miles northwest of Yellowknife. The area is noted for numerous occurrences of copper, gold, bismuth, cobalt and uranium and has one past producer, the Rayrock mine. All occurrences are associated with giant northeast striking quartz veins.
In 1994 the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) released an airborne geophysical survey of the area which delineated several large magnetic, uranium and potassium anomalies. The GSC wanted to outline exploration targets for Olympic Dam style deposits.
